Twenty-five feet from the waters edge, our spectacular oceanfront, ground floor, one bedroom, Poipu condo, has fantastic snorkeling, famous surf spots and incredible sunsets. Everything you desire in a dream getaway is located on the sunny south shore of Kauai. Surfers know this location as one of the best surf spots on Kauai’s south shore: PK’s, Centers, and Acid Drop. Two of the most famous snorkeling spots are a few feet away, Lawai Beach on the right and Prince Kuhio Beach on the left of our condo. You can watch humpback whales, spinner dolphins and sea turtles from the living room and lanai. Our Kuhio Shores condo is right next door to one of the best restaurants on the island, The Beach House. Less than 5 minutes away, you can golf on two major golf courses (Kiahuna Country Club and the championship Poipu Bay Resort course).

Our one bedroom, one bath, 865 square foot condo sleeps up to four people. Completely remodeled in Nov. 2007, it now has travertine tile through out, granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances and two HD TV's. It has been decorated with a tropical Hawaiian flair with unobstructed views from the living room, dining room, kitchen, and, of course, the lanai. Here you can enjoy the swaying palm trees, warm tropical breezes, and the most beautiful sunsets on earth. Features include a king-size bed, queen sofa sleeper, and fully-equipped kitchen. We have tried to include everything possible to enhance your comfort and enjoyment.

Guest Comments:

We had the great pleasure to utilize condo #117 at Kuhio shores in early June, 2011. As first time visitors to Kaua'i, we had no preconceived notions of what to expect. Let me say that both the accommodations and the island exceeded our expectations. We were looking for a chance to simply kick back and explore the island without the hustle and bustle of some of the more heavily populated islands and that is exactly what we got, although the accommodations were far better than what we were prepared for. The condo is easy to find, even in the dark. It was very clean and exceptionally well stocked for new arrivals. The decor was spectacular, and everything worked. The view from the lanai was exactly as pictured, and, yes, you are only 50 feet from the ocean. The grounds were gorgeous and well cared for. You will find that there is no need for air conditioning, as the fresh sea breeze is cool constantly. There is a friendly gentleman there who works on the grounds 8 hours or more daily. If you wish to cook your own meals (we did often), there is a small hole-in-the-wall grocery nearby with reasonable (by mainland standards) pricing and good variety. Congestion is not found on the roads of Kaua'i. We didn't make it to the north side of the island because we were too busy enjoying the south side. Would we go back? We're already planning to do that. Three things you might consider if this is your first trip are: (1) Rent a jeep if you want to see Polihale Beach. The road was too rough for a compact car. (2) Try the apple-bananas found at the farmer's markets. They are delicious, as is the pineapple. (3) At least once during your stay, take in a breakfast at the Barbecue Inn in Lihue. The pineapple glazed French toast they serve is exquisite. Thanks to both Karen and Craig for allowing us the use of a fabulous condo for our stay. The next one will be longer.

We stayed at this location for 3 weeks between December 2010 & January 2011. The written description & photos of the location are very accurate. The condo is beautiful, comfortable, clean and new. We were very comfortable at this condo and the amenities it provided us. The location is spectacular and we would absolutely recommend it to family & friends.

Could not think of a better way to spend my 60th birthday. The condo was absolutely beautiful, exactly how the listing shows. Everything you would want was in this condo. The Beachhouse Restaurant next door was the icing on the cake, couldn't ask for better food and service. The sunrise and sunsets were awesome, not to mention the turtles, whales and surfers. Thank you, Karen, for sharing your condo for a very memorable vacation.

The photos displayed and information in the web posting were accurate. We were extremely pleased with the location of the property and the upscale amenities in the apartment. The views were spectacular. We watched whales occasionally, turtles a few times and surfers all the time from our lanai and living room. A fact that may give an idea of the ambience and comfort of this apartment is that we preferred dinner at home to going out. Cooking was a breeze! The Koloa Fish Market provided fresh fish and shrimp plus cooked meals to go and is an easy 10 minute (or less) drive from Kuhio Shores. Parking was convenient and available. Staff of the condo complex were cordial and friendly. Karen, the owner, was fully responsive to our queries and requests. Our experience was completely satisfying and we do not hesitate to recommend this property to others.

Want some real "Aloha" in Kauai? Stay here.

What a terrific condo and fantastic location at Kuhio Shores #117! Many thanks to you Karen and Craig for offering such a great place to enjoy the Island. Lots of activities (snorkeling & surfing) and great restaurants (Beach House & Jossellin's) are so close. Or if you want to explore Kauai, Poipu is central to the North shore or heading West. The condo itself is well appointed with the latest kitchen essentials, beach gear, a variety of books, movies, and if you have an iPod, dock it in the sound system for your favorite tunes. If you are staying in for the day you've got an awesome view to read, cook, sunbathe or whatever suits you. We enjoyed every moment of watching the sea turtles and surfers during the day and listening to the ocean waves at night. Would we recommend this condo to others? Although I would love to keep this slice-of-the-Island a secret, it's all about living "Aloha and" sharing your experience. Stay here and have fun! Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing, families with teenagers, people with disabilities, romantic getaway.

It's got everything!

We enthusiastically recommend Kuhio Shores Resort #117! This unique condo location is in a quiet neighborhood with easy access from the airport and to all Kauai's south shore sights and activities. Awaking each morning at dawn to the sound of island birds, we never missed the amazing sunrise literally just steps away from our bed and coffee maker! Throwing on our shorts and sandals, we would stroll the residential streets nearby, peeking over garden walls of ocean front homes, enjoying boisterous bird songs, and the fragrance and color of island flora. Days were as quiet or exciting as we wished, as we explored the world-class attractions, including: National Tropical Botanical Garden less than a mile down our road, snorkeling (steps away or a short drive to Poipu Beach Park (and Brennecke's Beach Broiler)), lunch at Kilohana Plantation; or simply enjoyed the views of surfing, whales, and ocean beauty from the front room, dining room or lanai. Meals were easy with the fully equipped kitchen, a 2 minute walk to the neighboring Beach House restaurant (sunset appetizers and drinks at the bar is highly recommended), or a wide choice of eateries minutes away (don't miss Casa di Amici.) Evenings and sleep were very quiet (no noise from neighboring bar/restaurant), with only the crashing waves in the background. Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with teenagers, families with young children, people with disabilities, romantic getaway.

2/14/05 Just home from a wonderful 16 days at your retreat in Paradise. Though this was our 5th year at #117, we are delighted that "our home away from home" was purchased this past by caring new owners, Karen & Craig. Our main endeavor is always relaxing and distressing, but in addition to that we enjoyed and would recommend to other visitors a visit to: Na Aina Kai, a 200 acre botanical garden preserve near Kilauea; flight seeing in an ultralight (powered hang glider) with Kauai Ultralight Adventures at Port Allen; Na Pali Coast boat trip and snorkeling at Haena Beach with Kauai Fun tours (they have a 32' powered Cat that seats 16 very comfortably and handles rough seas very well) from Kekaha; dinner at our favorite restaurant, Casa Di Amici in Poipu. Now it's back to reality and counting the days until next year! Dave & Val

Hi Karen, This Thanksgiving will certainly include you as we tell everyone about our great trip in Kauai at Dinner tomorrow. I really believe our best moments were waking up to the beautiful sunrises, feeding the birds, watching the surfers coming into our/your condo, the huge sea turtles in front, people coming from all over to watch OUR sunsets and even getting married in back of the Beach House, meeting Don, and reading 3 books apiece with such serenity all around us. We made a lot of trips to Jo Jo's---Yummmm We took our 2 hour helicopter ride with Inter-Island...No doors, no windows, flying through the rain (over Mt. Waialeale), lunch and swimming at a waterfall. We kept going back to Maha Ulepa beach which was by far our favorite spot. So secluded, romantic, great sights, angry waves, perfect breezes---loved it. Spent 3 or 4 afternoons acting as Hyatt guests. We loved their pool and showered, shaved, etc in their spa. They thought we were guests and even gave us Lei's. Spent a day at the North shore -- Princeville and Hanalei and found them charming and beautiful. While swimming in the pool at Princeville we ran into the people we took the helicopter ride the day before and spent another day with them--small world. Favorite meal by far was at the Pacific Cafe although the Dolphin ran a close second followed by the Beach House. Disappointed in Bubba Burgers but loved the burgers at Kalapaki Beach Hut and best breakfast was macadamia nut pancakes with pineapples and bananas at the tip top cafe. I'm sure I'm leaving a lot out but that's what comes to mind right now. I'm so glad I found you. We have spent tons of time in Europe, around this country, the Caribbean, etc., but this was all in all our best trip ever. Have a great Thanksgiving. DAVID

Karen: I wanted to send you and email and thank you for allowing us to share in your little slice of paradise....Angie and I had a wonderful time staying at your condo...It was exactly what you promised us and so much more. Anyway, I just thought I'd let you know just how happy we were with everything and look forward to visiting again sometime. I've attached a picture of us taken during one of the many beautiful sunsets outside the condo. Thanks again.... Tom and Angie Seyer
